A suspected robber who stole a Toyota Corolla from where it was parked in Abuja and was driving it to Kaduna in order to sell it has been arrested by men of the Niger State Police Command on a highway in the state.
The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Wasiu Abiodun, who announced the development on Friday on his Facebook wall shortly after the Commissioner of Police in the state paraded some suspected criminals, disclosed that the man was arrested while he was driving a Toyota Corolla without registration number.
He gave the name of the man as Nathaniel Andrew, aged 32 years, adding that he was arrested by the police patrol team attached to the Paiko Division when he was driving the vehicle to Kaduna through Niger State.
It was gathered that the man was arrested along the Minna-Suleja road when he was sighted on the highway by the patrol team driving a vehicle without plate number.
Also, the patrol team became suspicious when the vehicle was said to have developed a mechanical fault on the road and he attempted to sell the spare tyre in order to repair the vehicle, as he claimed that he had no money in his possession.
According to the statement, during his interrogation after his arrest, he was said to have confessed stealing the vehicle from the Central Area, Abuja, and that he was driving the vehicle to Kaduna so as to sell it.
He also told the police operatives that he saw the vehicle key on the door of the car, and he used it to kick the vehicle and drive it towards to Minna, adding that Kaduna was his destination point.
The statement added that the man had been transferred to the Crack Squad unit for further investigation and prosecution.
