Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, a billionaire businessman from Nigeria who founded Jezco Oil and the Jezco Group, has allegedly been abducted in Anambra State.
Ezeokafor, who is the father of prominent Nigerian Instagram personality Jowizaza, was reportedly taken by force last week while praying on a mountain located in Awka, according to claims shared by lawyer Chukwudi Iwuchukwu.
Iwuchukwu disclosed the details on Sunday via a Facebook post, alleging that the business mogul had visited the mountain on his own to pray, leaving behind his assigned police officers and security team.
He stated that unidentified gunmen seized Ezeokafor during his personal prayer session and whisked him away to an undisclosed location.
The reported abduction has left the businessman’s hometown of Ekwulobia in a state of distress and disarray.
Describing Ezeokafor as the wealthiest individual in the community, Iwuchukwu noted that his significant status led the town to put its annual New Yam Festival on hold.
He highlighted that the event, which had never previously experienced a postponement, was suspended because residents felt it was inappropriate to celebrate while the family of their prominent son faced such a crisis.
“Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, a Nigerian billionaire businessman, the founder of Jezco Oil and the Jezco Group, who is also the father of Nigerian Instagram celebrity Jowizaza, was reportedly kidnapped last week from a bush in Awka, in Anambra State.
“Apparently, the old man went to the mountain alone to pray and seek the face of God without his security details and his policemen attached to him as it has been a normal practice for the billionaire businessman in the past.
“In the course of the fervent prayers and his vulnerability, he was picked up by unknown gunmen who took him away to an unknown location.
“The community where he comes from, Ekwulobia, has been thrown into confusion and mourning ever since the news of the abduction broke in the community,” Iwuchukwu wrote.
