Ned Nwoko defends wife, Regina, amid backlash over protest comments

Senator Ned Nwoko has come to the defense of his wife, actress Regina Daniels, after she faced criticism for her comments on the nationwide protests.

Regina had called for peace while condemning violence during the protests, but her message was met with backlash from those who accused her of being out of touch due to her marriage to a billionaire politician.

Ned Nwoko praised Regina’s “wisdom and strength of character” in speaking out, stating that she was motivated by concern for her workers’ welfare, not seeking popularity.

The senator attributed Nigeria’s economic and insecurity woes to “decades of bad governance” and appealed for peaceful protests, promising to share his own solutions to the country’s problems.

He wrote on Instagram:

” I commend Gina’s wisdom and strength of character in deciding on her own to sympathize and support Nigerians who are showing bottled up frustrations with the apparent hopelessness in the country. I must add that the current economic and insecurity problems in Nigeria are as a result of decades of bad governance. Please let everyone be peaceful with the protests as there cannot be any justifications for more loss of lives. I have also decided that in the next few days, I will speak and write on a few realistic immediate solutions especially on economic and insecurity problems facing our nation .As a senator, my bills and motions have been about the people. This is really my passion.”

Meanwhile, actress Tonto Dikeh faced similar backlash for supporting President Tinubu and advising against protests. She suggested alternative methods, such as a representative group meeting with the President, to address grievances.
