Popular Nollywood actor, Deyemi Okanlawon as well as other netizens have reacted to the news of China’s former Justice Minister, Fu Zhenghua, being sentenced to death for $16 million bribery, with a two year pardon in prison by a court in china.
As reported by AAnews, the intermediate people’s court of Changchun in northeast China,Jilin province found 67 year old Fu guilty.
The convict who served as Justice Minister between March 2018 and April 2020 was accused of ‘taking advantage’ of his position between 2005 and 2021.He was said to have accepted bribes amounting to more than 117 million yuan (nearly $16.76 million) and ‘bending the laws’ for his personal Interest.
Therefore, the ruling court stated that the death sentence can be commuted after two years in prison. It was further reported that the court stripped Fu off his political rights for life and seized all of his personal possessions.
Responding to the news, Deyemi Okanlawon wrote: “ This is what we need in Nigeria .”
