Bandits abduct nine, injure two in Sokoto community attack

Bandits in Chacho community, Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State, abducted nine residents and injured two others when they invaded the area.
According to a source, the bandits invaded the village around 11 pm on Wednesday.

He said, “The gunmen gained access through a route linking the community to Sabon Birni forest, known as a hideout for bandits.”

He further explained that they were sleeping outside when someone raised the alarm that bandits had attacked their village, and they immediately fled for their lives.

He added that they heard gunshots from another part of the community, noting that their house is located at the centre of the village.

He explained that, in the process, the attackers abducted seven women and two elderly men during the raid. At the same time, two other residents sustained varying degrees of injuries, and they are currently receiving medical treatment.

He attributed the rising cases of banditry in the area to the absence of security personnel.

Ahmad Rufai, the state police command spokesman, confirmed the attack but said police authorities were still verifying the exact number of abducted victims.
