Social media influencer and activist Martin Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has been released from custody.
His release was confirmed by former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC) in a brief update posted on social media.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had earlier on Tuesday, May 6, announced that Otse had been granted bail. However, the commission also stated that he would remain in their custody until he perfects his bail condition.
The EFCC explained that Otse was arrested after he failed to honour several invitations sent to him over “multiple grave allegations” involving financial crimes.
The specific details of the allegations have not yet been made public.
