Chad’s president has revealed that the country confirmed its first coronavirus case on Thursday.
“[We must simply] follow hygiene rules and other recommended measures to the letter,” President Idriss Déby said on Twitter:
Le premier cas de coronavirus vient d'être confirmé ce 19 mars. Nous ne devons pas céder à la panique mais simplement suivre à la lettre les règles usuelles d'hygiène et les autres mesures préconisées. Faisons preuve de discipline citoyenne. Ensemble, nous vaincrons le mal.

As of Thursday night, Chad has suspended all international flights into and out of the country for a period of two weeks, with the exception of cargo planes. It is also closing some of its land borders.
