Dino Melaye blasts APC over FIFA grant misuse

Former lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye, has taken a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, accusing it of corruption and moral decay over the handling of FIFA’s development fund for Nigeria.

In a post shared on his official handle on Sunday night, Melaye compared Nigeria’s use of the $1.2 million FIFA grant with that of Kenya, alleging that while both countries received the same amount to build football stadiums, Kenya made visible progress while Nigeria did not.

Sharing photos of a completed stadium project in Kenya and a modest pitch in Birnin Kebbi, the former Kogi West senator lamented what he described as the erosion of Nigeria’s moral fabric under the current administration.

He wrote:

“FIFA gave Nigeria $1.2 million and they gave Kenya $1.2 million. The goal was for both of them to build stadiums for football development. Our moral fabrics are gone, we celebrate rogues, we honor thieves. Up APC.”

Melaye’s post quickly gained traction on social media, creating debate among Nigerians. While some agreed with his criticism, others questioned the accuracy of his comparison, demanding more context about the FIFA funds and project timelines.

This isn’t the first time Dino Melaye has taken a jab at the APC-led government over alleged corruption. The outspoken politician has consistently accused the ruling party of mismanaging public resources and betraying the trust of Nigerians.
