Governor of Kebbi state, Dr Nasir Idris, on Wednesday, signed into law an edict for seventy-five thousand minimum wage for Kebbi civil servants.
The signing which took place in government house Birnin Kebbi was done before the National president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mister Joe Ajero, and some National officers of the Union who were in Kebbi for the NEC meeting of the Union.
According to him, the minimum wage will take care of the lowest cadre of civil servants and others in the service of the Kebbi state government though it has not specified whether the payment will take effect this October.
Idris has now joined the league of at least 14 governors who approved the immediate payment of new minimum wage for their workers, this came after marathon meetings with organized labor last week.
Recall that, Idris, pledged to be the first to implement the minimum wage once the federal government reached an agreement with the Nigeria Labour Congress but took a long because he waited to harmonize salary tables to ensure the minimum wage is beneficial to serving and retiring civil servants in Kebbi.
