The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the leadership of detained Nnamdi Kanu, has conveyed its anticipation to welcome their leader on December 15, 2023, fueled by the belief that the Supreme Court will deliver a favorable judgment.
Emphatically asserting that Kanu is innocent both domestically and internationally, the group condemns the perceived injustice imposed on him by the Federal Government and the judiciary. IPOB calls for calm among the people, supporters, and well-wishers of Biafra while urging the unconditional release of Kanu.
In a statement issued in Awka, Anambra State, the IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, advises the Supreme Court Justices to uphold justice and release Kanu without conditions.
The statement commends the Appeal Court Justices who resisted executive pressure and discharged Kanu, prohibiting further arrest and prosecution. IPOB urges the Supreme Court Justices to utilize their esteemed positions to curb executive excesses and protect Kanu’s human rights through his unconditional release.
