Just In: 24 Abducted Kebbi Schoolgirls Rescued

The 24 schoolgirls abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, have been rescued, security sources told TheCable on Tuesday.

Naija News recalls that armed men took the students during a night attack that drew nationwide outrage and renewed concerns about school safety in the North-West.

The assailants were said to have stormed the school at about 5:52 am, shooting sporadically as students prepared for the day’s routine.

The gunmen overpowered the school’s security, whisking away several girls before fleeing into nearby bushes.

Details of the efforts that led to the rescue of the students are still sketchy at the time of this report, but an official announcement is expected tonight.
