At least nine pregnant women have been rescued from a baby factory in Abuja.

It was gathered that the victims were rescued by officials of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons on Thursday.

In a statement by NAPTIP’s Spokesman, Vincent Adekoye, disclosed that the baby factory was located in the Ushafa area of the Federal Capital Territory.

He added that the victims were locked up in an apartment inside the estate by a yet-to-be-identified suspected trafficking agent after they were recruited through an online platform.

He said: “The victims were locked up in a rented apartment inside the estate by a yet-to-be-identified suspected trafficking agent after recruiting them through an online platform.

“The raid on the facility by operatives of NAPTIP followed a tip-off by a concerned citizen who noticed the unusual situation and movement around the area.”
