The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced a reduction in the price of premium motor spirit (petrol).
As of April 20, 2025, the price of petrol at NNPCL filling stations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has been lowered to N935 per litre, down from the previous price of N950.
Motorists in Abuja have confirmed the price drop, with some noting the adjustment at NNPCL stations. Abdullahi Hashim, a resident of Kubwa, Abuja, expressed his approval, stating, “It is a welcome development.”
Bukola Adewole, another local, mentioned that she noticed the change in Wuse Zone 4 on Friday, and it was later reflected at the Kubwa Expressway station.
This price reduction follows an earlier announcement by Dangote Refinery, which lowered its ex-depot price from N865 to N835 per litre. Dangote’s refinery, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, has also set a selling range for its partners, including MRS and AP filling stations, to offer petrol between N890 and N920 per litre, depending on location.
Meanwhile, MRS stations in Abuja have not been dispensing fuel since April 16, 2025, following Dangote Refinery’s price reduction.
