Oyo kidnapping: Eight suspects in DSS custody, others killed – Presidency

The presidency has announced that several of the criminals who captured students and staff from schools in Orire, Oyo State, were eliminated by defense forces.

Cliq.ng previously covered the story that the victims recovered their freedom on Friday following 56 days in captivity.

Validating the update, President Bola Tinubu’s communications assistant, Bayo Onanuga, noted in an X post that while a number of the captors were slain, eight were apprehended and are currently being held by the Department of State Services, DSS.

He posted: “Throughout the course of the rescue mission, eight of the abductors were apprehended and remain in DSS detention, whereas some of them were eliminated.

“No concessions were made during the rescue, given that one of the terrorist ringleaders whose freedom the kidnappers sought is currently on trial for his crimes.

“The defense agencies will provide a comprehensive report shortly.”
