A tanker explosion along the Warri-Benin expressway on Wednesday, July 22, left no fewer than seven people dead.
According to the spokesperson of the Delta State Police command, DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya, the driver of the petroleum tanker was trying to maneuver a bad spot on the road when it fell and exploded.
“The driver of the truck was trying to maneuver a bad spot when it fell. The truck exploded when residents of the area rushed to the scene to scoop fuel” she said.
She added that officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and security agencies were at the scene to assist in evacuating the corpses and rushed other injured persons to a hospital in Oghara community.
