The Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have jointly deployed a total of 9, 750 operatives in Rivers State to ensure there are no security breaches during the Easter celebrations.
Spokesman for the State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, while speaking with Saturday PUNCH said about 7,000 police officers were drafted to various part of the state.
“We deployed about seven thousand men to different parts of the state. We have taken note of flashpoints as well. They will patrol the waters, the creeks, roads, fun centres and places of worship too to ensure that law and order is maintained,” he said.
On his party, the Commandant, NSCDC, Rivers State Command, Muktar Lawal, in a statement signed by the Command’s spokesman, Oguntase Michael, said 2, 750 personnel have been drafted to various parts of the state.
Lawal said the command was combat ready to arrest any situation that may cause brake down of law and order during this year’s Easter and warned troublemakers to relocate outside the state or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.
“A total of 2,750 officers and men of the command would be deployed to beef up security for this year’s forthcoming Easter celebrations.
“The personnel would be deployed to all recreation centres and places of worship in the state to ensure a hitch free celebration,” Lawal said, even as he advised residents to go about their lawful activities without fear.
