Release Ohanaeze Youth President, Igboayaka – Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Ejimakor tells police

Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has demanded the immediate release of Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, President, Igboayaka Igboayaka.

The Ebonyi State Police Command had on Monday confirmed Igboayaka’s arrest while dismissing claims that he was abducted.

The Command said he was arrested following a petition submitted to the Commissioner of Police, alleging that he disseminated false information capable of truncating peace and destabilizing communities in Ebonyi State.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP. Joshua Ukandu, made the clarification in a in a statement issued in Abakaliki, the state capital.

He disclosed that the Command is currently investigating the allegations, assuring that once the investigation is concluded, Igboayaka would be charged to court.

Reacting, Ejimakor said the OYC leader was arrested under questionable circumstances, hence should be released.

Posting on X, Ejimakor wrote: “I hereby demand the immediate release of Igboayaka Igboayaka (President of Ohanaeze Youths) who was on 8th February 2025 arrested under questionable circumstances in Owerri & taken to Ebonyi, reportedly on the orders of Ebonyi Governor @FrancisNwifuru. Ndigbo should intervene.”
