Some students of the University of Abuja were reportedly teargassed and attacked by soldiers during their protest over the closure of the school’s school fees payment portal.
The students had taken to the streets to request for the reopening of the portal till the end of the academic session, to enable everyone pay their fees, but were reportedly attacked by men of the Nigerian army.
A student who spoke to Cliq Nigeria, said:
“The school shutdown payment portals for them to pay their school fees. Exam is starting after a week of resumption and their school fees were inflated. The students were protesting for the school to extend exams till March, reopen payment portal and also review their fees. But instead today being 3rd of February, the school called in military personnel to attack the students protesting peacefully. They shot at them and threw teargas at them… It’s sickening. This happened in UNIABUJA today”
