Former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, has heavily criticized President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, explicitly labeling the administration’s handling of the fuel subsidy removal as “the biggest scam in the world.”
Duke made these strong remarks while evaluating Nigeria’s current economic trajectory ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He argued that the federal government’s economic approach lacks transparency and fails to protect ordinary citizens from severe financial hardship.
During the assessment, Duke also weighed in on the roles of major political and economic figures, offering his perspectives on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and WTO Director-General Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
He suggested that Nigeria’s leadership crisis requires individuals with genuine administrative competence rather than recycled political strategies.
Duke warned that without significant changes to current fiscal policies, the country will continue facing severe economic decline.
His critical comments align with growing concerns from opposition leaders regarding the real impact of the current administration’s major economic reforms.
