Ebonyi Governor David Umahi has ordered immediate shut down of a private hospital where the state’s first COVID-19 death occurred.
The Governor gave the order in a meeting with front line health workers and team from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in Abakaliki.
His media aide, Francis Nwaze, who shared the news, said the Governor also revoked the certificate of occupancy of the hospital.
He debunked reports the COVID-19 patient who died in the state is a judicial official.
The Governor noted that no staff of the Judiciary died in the state as a result of Covid-19 infection.
The statement quoted the Governor as informing two more testing centres are to be added to the Virology Centre at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital.
According to the governor, the two new testing centers will be built at Onicha and Ishielu Council Areas.
This, Umahi said, will mean that all the three senatorial zones in the state will have a centre each, thereby, making testing of suspected cases easier and faster across the state.
