Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has provided clarification regarding his association with lawyer and politician, Daniel Bwala
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his media office and disseminated to Naija News, Atiku clarified that Bwala previously served as a spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization and not as his former aide.
The statement emphasized the importance of accurately defining Bwala’s role, stating, “It is crucial for the media and the general public to correct the characterization of Mr. Daniel Bwala as an aide to His Excellency Atiku Abubakar.”
It further elucidated that Bwala’s tenure as a spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization concluded after the 2023 elections, following which he pursued other endeavors.
Atiku, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, urged both the media and the public to refrain from categorizing Bwala as a former aide, urging recognition of his current pursuits and affiliations.
“Bwala provided his services and assistance to the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization as a spokesperson—a role he fulfilled during the preceding presidential campaign.
“Afterward, following the conclusion of the election, the requirement for a campaign spokesperson ceased, and Bwala transitioned to other professional endeavors.
“As such, we request the media and the public to refrain from identifying Bwala as a former aide of Atiku Abubakar.
“We hereby urge everyone to henceforth acknowledge, introduce, and delineate Daniel Bwala according to his present occupation and affiliations,” the statement concluded.
This clarification from Atiku comes in response to recent interactions and declarations of support from Bwala for the administration of President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
