The Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States has commended the Nigerian government for creating a safe environment ahead of the general forthcoming elections.
This was made known in a final communique signed by His Excellency, Umaro Embaló.

The Extraordinary Summit on the margins of the 36th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly was held in Addis Ababa on February 18, 2022.
According to the communique, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, His Excellency Omar Touray is to provide support for the general elections.
It reads in part; “The Authority commends the Government of Nigeria for the efforts deployed so far aimed at securing a secure environment for the peaceful conduct of the general elections.”
