Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has lambasted the Federal Government for excluding Kano from the recent distribution of rice palliatives to 36 states, calling it a “blatant act of partisanship” that undermines constitutional democracy.
Kwankaso expressed disappointment that Kano’s share was instead “handed over to members of the All Progressives Congress”, while calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and stop what he described as “a blatant act of partisanship.”
He made this statement in a post on X platform, using @KwankwasoRM on Monday. Kwankaso said, “For the last one week, I have been in Kano, and sadly I noted with great disappointment the Federal Government’s distribution of rice palliative to 35 states all through their Governors, except Kano State in the whole federation.
“Kano’s share was handed over to APC stalwarts to handle. This is a gross insult to our constitutional democracy and driving partisanship too far.
“I call on Mr. President to immediately halt this naked derailment of democracy.”
Kwankwaso’s scathing criticism comes as the FG faces scrutiny over its handling of palliative distribution, with concerns raised about partisan bias and inefficiency. The former governor’s call to action urges President Tinubu to take immediate steps to address the issue and ensure that palliatives reach those in need, rather than being hijacked by political interests.
