Daniel Bwala, who serves as President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, has criticized renowned Channels TV anchor Seun Akinbaloye for showing favoritism in his interviews with political figures.
This development follows a recent on-air disagreement between Bwala and the broadcast journalist, during which the presidential spokesman was pressed about past critical statements he made regarding Tinubu prior to joining his cabinet.
Akinbaloye subsequently interviewed Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), who used the platform to address major national issues and critique key policies of the Tinubu administration.
In response to that broadcast, Bwala accused Akinbaloye of applying a “double standard,” alleging that the journalist abandoned tough questioning to act like a soft “massage therapist.”
“As expected, the double-standard interviewer acted like a massage therapist—lacking courage, toughness, creativity, solid data, or compelling hooks, while the guest gave a dull performance devoid of substance.
“No amount of media proxies can revive his image. What isn’t there simply isn’t there,” Bwala posted on his official X account.
