The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last election, Atiku Abubakar, criticized President Bola Tinubu for his inability to tackle the security crisis in the country.
Atiku, a former Vice President, responded to the recent surge in kidnapping and killing of citizens across the nation.
He mentioned the killing of a nursing mother and her mum in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and the murder of two monarchs in Ekiti State.
Atiku questioned why the President embarked on a private visit to France amid the ravaging banditry and other security issues bedeviling the nation.
In a post on his official X handle, Atiku wrote, “Tinubu is playing fiddle while Nigeria is drowning in the ocean of insecurity. Imagine that the Commander-in-Chief is on a so-called private visit.
“At the same time, kidnappers kill a nursing mother and grandmother in Abuja for failing to pay N90m ransom and two monarchs in Ekiti, among other regular tragedies besetting Nigerians.
“If the shoes are too big for Emilokan, he should step aside. Nigeria does not need another Tourist-in-Chief. The country needs 24/7 leadership to confront the pervasive insecurity and collapsing economy.”
