AFN Trials Set To Begin In Zaria On The 26th 5

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria have invited athletes for its national trials to select Nigeria’s representatives at the WA U-20 (Nairobi, Kenya), African Senior Athletics Championships in Algiers, Algeria and CAA Region II Kaduna, Nigeria.

The national trials, according to a statement signed by AFN’s Director-General, Siminialayi Pepple, on Wednesday, will hold at the Ahmadu Bello University sports complex, Zaria, Kaduna State, May 26.

“I am directed by the President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria Ibrahim Shehu-Gusau to inform all Nigerian athletes that the federation’s 2021 trials will take place in Ahmadu Bello University sports complex, Zaria.

“The trials are designed to select Nigerian Athletes that will represent the country at the WA U-20 (Nairobi, Kenya), African Senior Athletics Championships (Algiers, Algeria) and CAA Region II Kaduna, Nigeria,” the statement read.

The AFN urged associations, clubs, institutions and states with eligible athletes to send their entries latest Sunday.
The new invitation for the national trials comes after the initial trials, which were scheduled for the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt March 29 and 30 was postponed due to what the AFN described as “interference” from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
