Former Super Eagles player, Augustine Eguavoen will take charge of the Three-time AFCON winners on an interim basis till a permanent solution is sorted out as the NFF begins their search for Peseiro’s permanent successor.
Following Gernot Rohr’s departure, Eguavoen was also chosen as Nigeria’s interim manager for the 2021 AFCON in December 2021, where he led the team to the Round of 16 before Tunisia knocked them out.
Until his recent appointment, the former Nigeria defender was serving as the Super Eagles Technical Director, and he is also touted as one of the leading candidates to take the job on a permanent basis.
Meanwhile, former Nigeria Under-17 manager Emmanuel Amuneke has been strongly linked to the vacant Super Eagles job following the exit of Portuguese manager Peseiro.
The former Barcelona winger, who led Nigeria to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2015, is among the leading candidates reportedly being considered for the role as the search for Peseiro’s successor kicked off.
