“He is not ready to start” – Pochettino issues fitness update on Chelsea striker

Chelsea head coach, Mauricio Pochettino has issued an update on the availability of striker, Armando Broja, ahead of their Carabao Cup clash with Brighton.

Chelsea are set to welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to Stamford Bridge for a Carabao Cup tie.

One man who is certainly not going to start is Armando Broja after Mauricio Pochettino confirmed in his latest press conference that he is not ready yet.

“He’s not ready to start,” Pochettino told reporters.

“He is helping the team and he is doing well, but he needs time to be fit again to be able to start a game. I think for 20 or 30 minutes he is able to help the team, but he’s still not ready to start.”

Armando Broja has the best opportunity to cement a starting place at Chelsea for the first time since coming through the club’s academy when he returns to full fitness as new signing, Nicholas Jackson continues his profligacy in front of goal.

Jackson is suspended for Chelsea’s next league game but is available to play against Brighton in the cup.
