Luis Enrique’s Spain are through to the Nations League final after defeating current European champions Italy by 2-1.
Manchester City’s Ferran Torres was the star of the match with his first-half brace securing the safe passage of the dominant visitors throughout the fixture.
Spain got the opener in the 17th minute from a cross from Oyarzabal which Torres slotted put at the back of the net. Their second came after Bonucci received a second yellow card for elbowing Sergio Busquets.
Oyarzabal, once again, found Torres in Italy’s box just a few seconds to the end of the first half to cement their lead against the Azzurri.
A mistake from Spain allowed Italy to put one back in through a Lorenzo Pellegrini goal. However, it was too late for a comeback.
The loss was Italy’s first in 37 matches under Roberto Mancini, and the first time Gianluigi Donnarumma has conceded two goals in a match since his debut for the national team five years ago.
Spain will battle the winner between Belgium and France in the final on Sunday, October 10.
